Sharon Marreel, 65, Owatonna

Sharon Ann Marreel went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021. She passed away at her home in Owatonna after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Destiny Church, 2515 Harvest Lane NW, Owatonna with visitation one hour prior to services. Friends may greet the family during a visitation from 2–4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2021, at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna. Sharon was born March 5, 1956, in Albert Lea, to John and Ann (Rietsema) Heerema. She attended school in Blooming Prairie and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1974. She attended Dordt College in Sioux Center Iowa for two years. She then transferred to Calvin College in Grand Rapids Michigan, earning a Bachelor’s Degree. For a time, she lived in Hollandale before moving to Owatonna. On March 10, 1984, she was united in marriage to Michael Marreel at Calvary Church on Rice Lake Street in Owatonna. Sharon worked at L and M, followed by waitressing at Perkins. Sharon then worked at the Wenger Corporation for over 20 years; first as an Administrative Assistant and then as an Inside Sales Representative for East Coast states. As a couple, they enjoyed boating, fishing, and camping after retirement. They also went bike riding on the trails in Minnesota many times throughout the summer. Sharon enjoyed archery, 3D shoots, and fly fishing in the Preston and Lanesboro area. She played softball for many years, holding down 1st base. She loved watching baseball. Sharon was always ready for the next adventure. The couple were members of Destiny Church, where Sharon was a worship leader and part of the worship team. She never missed an opportunity to attend Bible Study. Family meant everything to her. For many years, she met her parents twice a week for lunch. Sharon is survived by her husband Michael of 37 years; siblings Alida (Larry) Fish, Evie (Arlie) Olsen, and John (Barb) Heerema; four brothers-in-law Mark (Laurie) Marreel, Tim Marreel, John Marreel (Deb Arneson), Dan (Laura) Marreel; four sisters-in-law Janet (Bob) Douty, Roseria (Mike) Webeck, Mary (Steve) VanZee, and Madonna (Bob) Rosel. She is further survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents.
