Snitker, Gantert ExCEL nominees

Owatonna juniors Sarah Snitker and Nils Gantert will represent Owatonna High School as nominees for the 2021-2022 Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) ExCEL Awards.
The ExCEL awards, short for “Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership” have been sponsored by the MSHSL for 26 years now.
The award recognizes high school juniors who are active in fine arts and/or athletic activities, who demonstrate leadership qualities and who are model citizens in their community.
Snitker’s resume for the award includes her involvement in soccer and hockey, as well as commitments to choir, vacation bible school, Sunday school teaching, being a Big Sister mentor and multiple other philanthropical organizations.
Gantert is involved with soccer, basketball, tennis, choir, band, being a Sunday school teacher and other philanthropical organizations.
Each high school in the state can nominate one junior boy and girl, and the winners of the award will be selected by a panel of judges from multiple schools in the state.
Award winners will be announced on Feb. 1.
