Blooming Prairie’s Bo Zwiener took another trip to the Twin Cities this past weekend, but this time athletics was not the reason behind his visit.

The Region One Triple A Award winner was visiting Minneapolis for the state award selection banquet and to be honored during halftime of the boys’ state basketball tournament at the University of Minnesota’s Williams Arena.

“It’s just awesome to show all of my hard work off the mats. What I do during the school day, not just after it. Like before school I go to choir. Nobody really sees that. So it’s just awesome,” said Zwiener.

While Zwiener’s name was not called as the state winner, the experience alone added him to a select group of Awesome Blossoms.

His appearance at the state selection banquet made him just the fourth Awesome Blossom to reach that point in the selection process – one year after he made it to the same stage in the ExCEL Award selection.

Highlighting the big day was the opportunity to take center court at halftime of the Class AA state championship game.

“It was just awesome. It was cool to be out there. Last year, I was out there for the ExCEL Award, so I knew what was going to happen. Just having all the fans there, it was really cool,” said Zwiener.

Up next for Zwiener’s Awesome Blossom career is baseball season.

The senior has high hopes for his team that will be senior heavy and looking to reach the top spot in the Gopher Conference.
