John Mumm, 78, St. Cloud

John Edward Mumm, age 78, passed away Sept. 7, 2025, at The Sanctuary at St. Cloud.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Owatonna. Friends may greet the family at church starting at 10:15 a.m. There will be a Knights of Colombus Rosary recited at 10 a.m. before the visitation. Military Honors will be provided by the Steele County Funeral Unit.

John was born to parents Joseph and Margaret (Kallas) Mumm in Bertha, Minn. He grew up on a farm and attended school in Staples.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army and after, he came back to the family farm to work. He managed several turkey farms for many years. John married Dorothea Wilson in 1974, and they had two children Sara and Shane, the two later divorced.

In 2003, John married Darlene Meyer and the two made their home in Owatonna.

John continued to work as a truck driver and lastly, his most fulfilling job, delivering meals to seniors.

John was survived by children, Sara (Randy) Mumm-Freshe, Hinckley, Minn., Shane (Bobbi) Mumm of Crosby, Minn., 5 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, siblings, Bernard (Gloria) Mumm, Staples, Teresa (Walt) Peterson, Lindstrom, Minn., JoAnn (Wayne) Lenk, Browerville, Minn., Rose (Don) Weber, Perham, Minn., Larry Mumm, South Dakota, brother-in-law, Jack Bristlin.

Preceded in death by wife, Darlene, parents, stepfather, Lawrence Mumm, sister, Marie Bristlin, step son-in-law, Kody Paul.
