Katherine Keck, 86, Owatonna

Katherine Adeline Keck, age 86, of Owatonna, passed away Dec. 31, 2024.

Katherine was born Sept. 20, 1938, in Owatonna to John and Elizabeth (Hightshoe) Dostal. She graduated from Austin High School and Austin Vocational School with a license in cosmetology.

In 1956, she married Lester Edwin Keck, and they had four children. In 1967, Lester and Katherine purchased their farm by Meriden of which their two sons still operate today. She worked before and then after her children were in school at various jobs. Her last employment was at Taco Johns for 14 years.

She enjoyed square dancing, camping, reading, puzzles, spending wintertime in Arizona and Laughlin, Nev., and traveling to other countries.

She enjoyed volunteering for Red Cross, Semcac, The Clothesline, food shelf and knitted scarves, mittens and hangers for different agencies. She is a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her children: Karen (Scott) Bartsch, Brian (Jodi) Keck, Bradley (Elizabeth) Keck and Elizabeth (Jeremy) Sorg; 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, and her sister, Barbara Wahl.

Katherine was welcomed into heaven by her husband Lester, parents John and Elizabeth Dostal, brother Kenneth Dostal, sister Lulubelle and many other friends and family members.

A huge thank you to the Owatonna Mayo Oncology Department, Dr. Hanna, the staff at Benedictine, Allina hospice, Sheri and the nurses who walked the journey with her, were always on her side and worked their magic to extend her life and make her comfortable the last couple of years.

Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 11 from 9-11 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Owatonna.
