Kenneth Correy, 82, Owatonna

Kenneth William Correy passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at his home in Owatonna, surrounded by family.

Kenneth was born on Oct. 6, 1942, in Blooming Prairie, to Everett and Elvera Correy. After raising two children with his first wife, Carole, Kenneth helped raise two more children after marrying the love of his life, Joan, on April 7, 1984.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 12 until 2 p.m. at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna.

Private family services will follow at 2 p.m.

Kenneth was a dedicated Master Auto Body Repair technician. He worked on as many race cars for friends as he worked on repairing cars for customers. He established a successful auto body business and earned a reputation as a trusted member of the community before retiring in 2000. Following his retirement, he worked part-time for Christian Brothers Cabinets for several years.

Kenneth had a passion for auto racing. He also loved woodworking and in 1987, he built the custom home in which he remained until his passing. Additionally, he masterfully crafted many treasured pieces of Amish-quality furniture for family and friends. In his younger years, he loved racing and going with friends to any racetrack. Once he was even left at a racetrack by friends, but not on purpose, and laughs were shared all around. Kenneth experienced the dream of a lifetime when he attended the Richard Petty Driving School and was always thrilled to report he drove 151.7 mph.

Kenneth loved spending time with his family and friends and was never short of a story if you were willing to listen. He also loved to listen to stories others would share with him. Kenneth was great at cards, especially the family game of “garbage” in which, we are all certain, he cheated. Coca-Cola was his beverage of choice, but he was not good at sharing; so you didn’t ask for one, and he did not offer. We loved him anyway. He also loved his Minnesota Vikings, and more than that, he loathed the Packers. He loved his extended family, despite them being die-hard Packer fans. His laugh was contagious, his heart was enormous, and he will be greatly missed.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Joan Correy (nee Walczak); daughter Michele (Bruce) Davison; son Kevin Correy; stepsons Keith (Denaira) Rumler, and Brian (Renee) Rumler; sister Karen (Dan) Pirkl; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents.

Kenneth, we love you and treasure the time we got to spend with you. You were a joy to those who knew you and will be missed by all. We will see you again one day.
