Luverne Joseph Gilbertson, 83, Hayfield

Luverne Gilbertson, 83, passed away on Friday morning, June 12, 2020, in Hayfield.  He was born on Aug. 2, 1936, in Hayfield, the son of Eddie and Claire (Solverud) Gilbertson.  
He served in the United States Army. Luverne was united in marriage to Marie Margaret Christensen on Sept. 6, 1958. 
Luverne worked at various jobs such as Crenlo, Hormel, Dodge County Highway Department, Century Plastics, with Jay Woodwick building grain bins and Dwight Ward, AKA Corn Palace, where he was the king. He enjoyed traveling, casinos, camping and going to his grandchildren’s sports.
Luverne is survived by his children, Denise Shadow, Hayfield; David (Sue) Gilbertson, Hayfield; Debra (David) Leino, Hayfield; eight grandchildren, Ginny Shadow, Renae Shadow, Katie (Aaron) Rud, Heather (Kevin) Farmer, Karla (Ryan) Smith, Dennis (Lauren) Gilbertson, Caleb Gilbertson, Sara Gilbertson; 12 great grandchildren, Kyla Smith, Stanley Smith, Wyatt Farmer, Levi Farmer, Isaac Shadow, Natalie Shadow, Noah Shadow, Blake Shadow, Michael Shadow, Hunter Shadow, Jaxen Rud, Taylor Rud and Oscar (The Dog);  sisters, Inee (Olin) Ocheltree, Rochester; and Marlene Johnston, Rochester.  
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie, 2010; son, Dennis; two sisters, Ardella and Francis; and one brother, Nordeen.
Visitation was scheduled for 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, at Cazplewski Funeral Home in Hayfield and one hour before the service scheduled for 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hayfield.
Attendance at the visitation and service will require masks due to the COVID-19 guidelines.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery with military honors by the Hayfield American Legion Rothie Post 330.
