Marian Spindler, 90, Owatonna

Marian Margaret Spindler, 90, of Owatonna, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at Benedictine Living Community surrounded by family.

Marian was born March 25, 1934, in Owatonna to Rudolph and Margaret (Ringhofer) Seykora. She attended school in Owatonna and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1952. After high school, she attended Mankato State University. Afterward, she was employed at Jostens.

On June 28, 1955, she was united in marriage to Eugene Spindler at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Together they raised six children on the family farm.

Marian enjoyed baking, canning, cooking, gardening, sewing, dancing, journaling and writing in her diary. She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women, Sacred Heart Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, Our Happy Corners Extension Club, and Carmelites. She was a 4-H leader and a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Marian is survived by two sons, Jerome and Dale Spindler of Owatonna; two daughters, Monica (John) Kirlin, Faribault, and Lisa (Tim) Karl, Nerstrand; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret (Jim) Walker.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Eugene; her parents, son, Norman Spindler; daughter, Romona Meyer; sister, Helen Hafstad; and great-granddaughter, Darlyne Jeffery.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 810 S. Cedar Ave., Owatonna, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, with Monsignor Cook presiding. Friends may greet the family from 4–7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna, and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow Mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery. A Council of Catholic Women rosary will be recited Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
