Mark Schuster, 61, Owatonna, obituary

Mark Schuster passed away on June 16, 2025, at the Austin Hospital in Austin, at the age of 61.

Friends may greet the family at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Funeral Mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 S. Elm Ave., Owatonna on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.

Mark was born on March 20, 1964, to parents Dale and Janet (Gray) Schuster in Owatonna. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1982 and completed two years of college at Mankato State University.

Mark worked in sales for various companies before starting his own business, Mark's Lawn and Snow, in 1996. He loved the freedom of making his own schedule, working outdoors, and socializing with his customers. His son, Gage, later joined him in the family business, which Gage took over in 2023.

Mark married Karla Suchanek in 1994, and they had two children, Kayla and Gage. They spent many happy years together before divorcing in 2023.

Mark's greatest passions were anything in the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, golfing, and gardening. Anyone who knew Mark knows what a charismatic person he was; everyone he met seemed to become his friend. When you were with him, there were endless laughs at the stories he loved to tell. Mark loved to socialize and be the life of the party! However, it was his children who provided him with the most pride and joy, along with his daily interactions with his sister, Anne, and above all, his faith in the good Lord.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Sidney and Marie Gray, and Donald and Helen Schuster; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his children, Gage Schuster (fiancée Niveah Welch) and Kayla Schuster, both of Owatonna, and their mother, Karla; brother, Brad (Jodi) Schuster, Owatonna; sister, Anne (Andy) Nylund, Owatonna; his significant other for the past couple of years, Sherry King Bertram, Hollandale; and many nieces and nephews.
