Mark Towns, 90, Owatonna, obituary

Mark Towns, age 90, of Owatonna, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law.

A service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Owatonna on Jan. 4, 2025, at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Logan Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa, at a later date.

Mark Louis Towns was born Dec. 26, 1934, the son of Ralph and Rebecca Towns. Mark had a twin sister, Margaret, and he also had five half-brothers. Mark graduated from Central High School in Sioux City.

He married Angela Burr Nov. 1, 1958. They lived most of their married life in Sioux City, until moving to Owatonna, in October 2020.

Mark worked the majority of his life in the transportation industry. The early years of his life, he worked for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad and later he worked for the Sioux City Transit System until he retired in 1999.

Mark was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on November 13, 1966. His faith and friendships in the congregation kept him strong throughout his entire life.

Mark was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Towns; one sister, Margaret Towns; and five half-brothers.

Mark is survived by his three children: Kimberly (Barry) Bayles of Owatonna, Brian (Karen)Towns of North Ogden, Utah, Allison (Kirk) Camerer of Sioux City; grandsons: Tyler (Lara Flemming) May, and Chandler (Sydney) Camerer; and one nephew Matthew (Chris Olsen) Towns.
