Huskies’ girls golf earned itself a share of the Big Nine Conference title last week with a dominant performance at Owatonna Country Club.
Owatonna posted a 320 to outscore then conference leader Northfield by 34 strokes for first place.
The Huskies’ big day was highlighted by some standout performances from its four scoring golfers.
Leading the pack was defending state champion Carmen Jirele, who shot an even 72 to take first place by four strokes.
Teammate Danica Hager followed close behind and tied Northfield’s Karina Johnson for second place with a 76.
Just two shots behind and taking third place for a Husky-heavy leaderboard was Paige Thompson with an 80.
The three golfers showed both grit and finesse at the perfect time, and blew away the competition by being the only team to have three golfers crack the top 10.
In fact, Owatonna was close to having all four scoring golfers reach the mark, with Brynn Andrix falling just shy in 11th place with a 92.
The Huskies’ Co-Big Nine Conference title is the first time the team has earned the title since 2014.
Owatonna’s boys team also competed last week and took seventh place at the Big Nine End of Season Tournament in Winona.
The Huskies’ boys shot a 337 led by Jaxn Hacker’s 78 that earned him ninth place.
