Andrew Lechuga Salinas, a man convicted of killing Claremont Police Chief Greg Lange, was denied parole for a fifth time during a hearing in St. Paul on Friday afternoon.

The Review Board voted 3-2 to continue for two years before another hearing would occur.

An argument for parole was made by one member Jo C. Earhart, who said she felt Salinas took advantage of all the programming he could while in prison, while others were concerned about his overall tenure in prison.

Salinas is serving a life sentence for brutally murdering Claremont Police Chief Gregory Lange in July 1988. Lange responded to a late night domestic disturbance near his home in Claremont. He never made it back home.

Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose, ahead of the hearing, posted a letter he sent to the Department of Corrections  encouraging others to do the same.

“I would respectfully ask that the panel deny parole or early release of any kind for Salinas.

Andrew and his brother Robert brutally beat, shot, and murdered Chief Greg Lange from the Claremont Police Department in 1988,” Rose wrote in his letter.
