Randell Hagen, 70, Dodge Center

Randell Hagen, 70, Dodge Center, obituary

Randell John Hagen, of Dodge Center, died Monday, July 1, 2024, at his home. He was 70.

Randy was born in Chicago on March 25, 1954, the son of Monroe John and Mary Lorraine (Evans) Hagen.

He attended school in McHenry, Ill., and was a proud Trojan.

Randy was married to Barb Oeffling; they had one son and were later divorced.

On Oct. 19, 1986, Randy married his childhood friend and love of his life, Donna Schiavone, in McHenry.

The couple moved to Minnesota in 1996, where they raised their four daughters.

Many homes in the area are more beautiful as a result of Randy’s master carpet and flooring work. He tried to retire, but there was always “just one more little job…”

Randy enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening – especially taking care of their large farm site. When he was forced to step away from mowing the yard, Randy continued to do “quality control” checks via photographic and video evidence.

He had a fabulous sense of humor, always joking and teasing his loved ones. Randy definitely enjoyed a cold beverage and a smoke with friends.

Randy is survived by his wife Dee, of Dodge Center; his mother Mary, of McHenry; son Greg Hagen, of McHenry; daughters, Amber (and Vince Scannell) Hagen of Wells, Courtney Hagen of Granite Falls, Megan (and Brian Thomas) Hagen, and Abby Hagen, all of Dodge Center; 16 grandchildren, Addison and Lilly Scannell, Michael, Hazel and Aurora Phelps, Chloe and Jace Trevino, Langley, RJ, Edin, Clara (or “Rosebud,” as her grandpa called her), Ava and Chace Fisher, Harmony, Maureese and BJ Thomas; his sister LaVonne (and Buddy) Fox; his brother Lane (and Rachel) Hagen; Logan Onken, Chad and Stephanie Fisher.

Randy was preceded in death by his father and a son-in-law, Dallas Laqua.

A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at a later date.
