Robert "Bob" Brandt, 82, Aitkin

Robert “Bob” Peter Brandt, 82 of Aitkin, died Saturday, July 13, 2024, at his home from a short bout with cancer.

He was born August 13, 1941, in Waseca, the son of Raymon and Hazel (Billing) Brandt. He graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1959. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1960 and served in Turkey, Tripoli, Libia and Spain, he was honorably discharged in 1964.

Bob was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae (Mueller) on May 8, 1965, in Blooming Prairie. He worked for Owatonna Canning and American Can Co. in Austin and then was transferred to Fort Dodge, Iowa. In 1983, in Humboldt, Iowa, he worked as an Auto Tech. Mechanic specializing in electronics, A/C, and vehicle computers.

He retired and moved to Aitkin with Dorothy in 2003. He kept busy doing small engine repair and odd jobs. He was a member and the Color Guard Commander at the Aitkin American Legion Lee Post 86. He was also a member of the DAV and First Lutheran Church in Aitkin. Bob enjoyed fishing, making maple syrup and helping others. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother David.

Bob is survived by his wife Dorothy Brandt; son Scott Brandt of Mankato; daughter and son-in-law Michelle (Patrick) DeLaRosa of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Marissa DeLaRosa, Amber (Kyle) Kosloske, and Christopher Brandt; brother and sister-in-law Allan (Betty) Brandt; Sister and brother-in-law Barb (Allen) Dobberstein; sister-in-law Linda Brandt; and many other special relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

Funeral service was Thursday, July 18, 2024, at First Lutheran Church, Aitkin. Visitation was prior to the service at the church. Burial was in Bennettville Cemetery. Military honors were accorded by Aitkin American Legion Lee Post 86 and Aitkin VFW Roberts-Glad Post 1727.
