Sherman Kemmer, 89, England, obituary

Sherman Joseph Kemmer, 89, born in Spring Valley, Minn., on Feb. 8, 1934, died on Nov. 14, 2023, peacefully, of natural causes at his home in Chatham, Kent, England. He was surrounded by the love of his devoted wife and best friend Diane, his sons, daughters-in-law, caregivers and prayerful legions of loved ones.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 810 S. Cedar Ave., Owatonna, at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024, followed by the graveside Committal Service at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Sherman’s spirit transitioned to the great world beyond joining his loving mother Clara, father Albert, brother Raymond Kniefel, dearest sister Mariella Thomas, and brothers Eugene and Paul Kemmer. Sherman was a kind and generous soul. He will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. Sherman’s kind-heartedness extended to many causes especially education and the protection of birds and their habitats.

Sherman was a graduate of the University of Minnesota with Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and Business, as well as a Juris Doctorate from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Sherman became a duly admitted attorney to the U.S. Supreme Court and the Minnesota Supreme Court. As Director of Transportation for Sohio and BP, Sherman oversaw the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System and was the first to close a licensing and development agreement with China.

In 1978, Sherman founded Diamond Point International which led him to England where the company evolved from an international trading company to a European manufacturing and marketing enterprise of embedded computer systems. He was a founder of the Licensing Executive Society in the USA and Canada.

Sherman was the beloved and proud father of all four sons, Michael P. (Agnes) Kemmer of Strongsville, Ohio, Gregory S. Kemmer of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Paul J. Kemmer of London, UK, and Eric H. (Julie) Kemmer of Las Vegas. His beloved grandchildren include Michelle, Max, Amelia, Finley, Gavin and Colin. Sherman was the beloved American Dad to Diane’s loving family, including the departed son Steven F. (Jackie) Blake, and American grandfather to Georgie and Billie. We are all deeply saddened by the loss of this great man.
