Thomas Hall, 94, West Concord

Thomas L. Hall, 94, of West Concord, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Thomas was born on June 8, 1924, in Mexia, Texas, the son of Johnny and Lela (Pitts) Hall. He grew up in Mexia where he graduated from high school in 1941 at the age of 16. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Force on June 26, 1942, and served during the European Theater. He was a POW for a few months and was honorably discharged on Sept. 30, 1945. 
On July 9, 1945, Thomas married Roberta Pirkl in Glendale, Calif. The couple lived there until 1949 when they moved to West Concord so Thomas could help his father-in-law running his appliance business, Pirkl Appliance. Eventually Thomas went into a partnership with his father-in-law, and the business was renamed Pirkl & Hall. Thomas owned and operated it for 26 years. He then went to work for Total Asphalt in the Twin Cities. He also worked for Development Assistance Corporation overseas in Qatar building housing. 
Thomas was a pilot and enjoyed flying along with spending time at the cabin, fishing, hunting, trap shooting, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. 
He was a faithful member of Concord Church of Christ, the West Concord American Legion and POW/MIA Association.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Roberta of West Concord; son, Craig (and Kris) Hall of Rochester and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
