A one-vehicle crash Wednesday morning near Clinton Falls has left a baby dead.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a pickup driven by Dominic Owen Hosteller, 25, of Owatonna, was northbound on Interstate 35 when he apparently lost control. The vehicle left the road and rolled over in the east ditch.

Passengers in the truck included a 4-year-old girl and a baby boy, the report says.

The baby sustained fatal injuries; both Hosteller and the girl had injuries that were described as not life-threatening. All were taken by ambulance to Owatonna Hospital; the children’s names were not released.

Road conditions were described as snow and ice covered after the first winter weather moved into the area overnight.

The MSP report says all three people were wearing seat belts; alcohol was not a factor.

Also responding to the crash, which was reported about 7:40 a.m., were the Steele County Sheriff’s Office, Owatonna Police Department, Mayo Ambulance and Owatonna Fire Department.
