Medford’s Addison Vandereide inked her letter of intent to play volleyball for St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul last week marking the second time in as many weeks that an elite Tigers’ athlete has committed to play at the next level.
Vandereide has been a member of Medford volleyball since her youth days in the Tigers’ system and now graduates this spring to take her talents to the cities to compete at the Division III level.
“My teammates gave me the motivation to make it this far. Seeing them here today and how much I’ve enjoyed playing with them over the years, it’s been so fun. Now, I’m really looking forward to a new chapter next year,” said Vandereide.
The senior is hoping to maintain her role as a six-rotation player as she steps into the next level, but it’s no secret her offensive prowess will be something that the Katies will look to utilize.
According to Vandereide, recruiting picked up after her senior season.
“They began talking to me at the end of my senior season and right before club,” she said.
As one of just two southern Minnesota athletes on the roster, Vandereide acknowledged that there will be a potential culture shift, but said she’s excited to get to the cities and begin working with the team.
As for now, the local standout will continue playing club volleyball and attending camps while also competing as a member of Medford’s track and field team.
