1,095 winless days

A 58-3 road loss to JWP last Friday extended Medford’s losing streak to 25 games and officially marked three full years since the Tigers’ last win on Oct. 7, 2022.
Next to nothing continues to go right for the Tigers this season as the team is currently riddled with injuries in what is already a small, relatively inexperienced roster.
The Bulldogs wasted no time getting on the scoreboard and kicked off the first quarter with a touchdown on the team’s opening drive.
JWP’s offense marched down the field and capitalized on a one-yard rush to take a 7-0 lead.
Medford’s first drive stalled, and the Bulldogs went back to work applying the pressure.
JWP connected on a 46-yard passing touchdown on the first play following Medford’s punt, giving the Bulldogs a 14-0 lead with 5:19 left in the first quarter.
The Tigers’ offense had already faced struggles earlier in the season, but by far the biggest blow to the team was quarterback Landon Seiler being sidelined with an injury.
Replacing Seiler was backup Liam Ahrens, who proved to have much to learn in his new role as starter.
Ahrens’ second drive ended abruptly after throwing an interception on an ill-advised pass.
The pick set JWP up in plus territory and instantly led to a 35-yard rushing touchdown on the first play of the drive.
JWP’s point-after attempt was aborted and resulted in the team holding a 20-0 lead with four minutes left in the first quarter.
An avalanche of errors continued to roll downhill for the Tigers on the next drive when Ahrens threw his second interception of the game while being dragged down by multiple Bulldogs in the backfield.
JWP took over at Medford’s 31-yard line and eventually cashed in on a jet sweep rushing touchdown to go up 26-0.
The Bulldogs went on to score once more in the first half on a 28-yard rush to take a 33-0 lead into the locker rooms.
The second half saw JWP score three more times for 20 points, making it eight unanswered scoring drives in the Bulldogs’ favor.
Medford eventually got on the board in the fourth quarter when running back Grayson Burr finished a drive with a four-yard rushing touchdown, but the points were far too late to make a difference.
Medford’s 46 yards of total offense marked a new season low for the team as another potential winless season begins to creep into the realm of possibilities.
The Tigers’ next game will be at home in a softer matchup against a 1-5 NRHEG team that has had troubles with consistency as well.
The Panthers enter the game on a two-game skid where the team has been outscored 109-12.
Kickoff between Medford and NRHEG is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.
