Alice Dulitz, 79, Owatonna
Alice Dulitz of Owatonna, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna.
A Mass of Christian Burial is set for Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at 12 p.m. with visitation starting at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 810 S. Cedar Ave., Owatonna. Fr. Joe Pete will be presiding. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Alice was born Nov. 6, 1946, in Carroll, lowa, to Edward and Rita (Williams) Meier. The family then moved to Minnesota. Alice graduated from Marian High School in Owatonna in 1964.
She was united in marriage to Richard Dulitz on Jan. 16, 1971, at Sacred Heart Church. The two shared many fishing trips with family and friends and purchased a summer home in Longville, Minn.
She began her career with Northwestern Bell as an operator in 1964. She retired from US West Communications in 1992 as a supervisor. Together, she and Rich owned and operated the Gold Door Bar in Owatonna. She also held several part-time accounting positions. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and was named Pioneer of The Year in 1989 and 1996.
Alice played and then coached softball, and she organized a couple bowling teams. Memories from league nights and tournaments will put a smile on many faces who are reading this. Alice's volunteer activities were very important to her. They included: Senior Center, Hospice House, Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and she helped to start up the Life Line installation project in Owatonna many years ago.
Alice is survived by her brother, LeRoy (Dorothy) Meier; sisters Mary Ann Rysavy, Arlene (LaVern) Soukup, and Karen Meier; sisters-in-law Donna Dulitz and Sharon (Mike) Rysavy; many nieces and nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Kathy Meier, brother Bob Meier, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roland and Priscilla Dulitz, brothers-in-law Jerry Rysavy and Kenny, Steve and Everett (Evelyn) Dulitz.
