Ardis Knutson, 82, Blooming Prairie
Ardis E. Knutson, age 82, of Blooming Prairie, passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, at Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield.
Ardis Evelyn Lind was born April 6, 1940, in Minneapolis, to Everett and Dorothy (Eckman) Lind. She graduated from Robinsdale High School and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Minnesota.
Following college graduation, she began teaching junior high in Austin.
On Aug. 28, 1965, Ardis was united in marriage to Burton “Burt” Knutson in Minneapolis. The couple moved to a farm near Blooming Prairie, where Ardis helped Burt on the farm as his “go-for.” In addition to helping Burt, she was also a substitute teacher for the Blooming Prairie school system and was a piano lesson instructor to students out of her home.
Ardis was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. She was the past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, past Hallinglag member, and a past Sons of Norway member. Ardis loved to travel; she hosted two foreign exchange students, one from Finland, Aki Kontturi and one from Germany, Tom Kielhborn. She enjoyed playing piano, flower gardening, and belonging to a book club. Ardis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Burton Knutson of Blooming Prairie; special friends, Ralph (Betty Maloney) Magnusson, Dale (Diane) Magnusson, and Roger (Kathryn) Magnusson; sister, Jennie Evens of Hibbing; one niece and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Dorothy Lind.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, at the First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. Visitation will take place from 9:30-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, Blooming Prairie.
