Barbara Eden, 92, Blooming Prairie

Barbara L. Eden, age 92, of Blooming Prairie, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at her home in Blooming Prairie.

Barbara Lea Beck was born on Sept. 20, 1931, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Charles and Gladys (Elmore) Beck. She attended schools in California and graduated from Brownsville High School in Oregon.

On July 3, 1953, Barbara was united in marriage to Richard Eden in New Mexico. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Melanie.

They owned and operated Coronado Cleaners in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for over 15 years.

In 2008, the couple moved to Blooming Prairie to be closer to Melanie and her family.

Barbara enjoyed crafts, reading, and doing puzzles. She especially loved bowling and belonged to many leagues over the years. Barbara also enjoyed square dancing and was a lover of animals, especially her beloved cats. Barbara will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Melanie (Thomas) Watson; two grandchildren, Brittany (Sam) Hierlmaier and Jarrod (Alyssa) Watson; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Roger, Abigail, and Samuel; and one sister, Patricia Yvonne Koontz of Tillamook, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents, Charles and Gladys; and one brother, Charles Don Beck.

The funeral service for Barbara will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Blooming Prairie. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Barbara will be laid to rest with her husband at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
