Barbara Peterson, 91, Blooming Prairie

Barbara “Jeanette” Peterson, age 91, of Blooming Prairie, passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at her home.

Jeanette was born on Aug. 3, 1934, in Albany, Ga., to Luther and Maggie (Cartledge) Lokey. She married Donald Peterson on July 2, 1953, in Albany, and they later moved to Blooming Prairie.

Jeannette was a member of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, Red Hat Society, and Sons of Norway. Her hobbies included ceramics, flowers, gardening, farming, and card club, where she enjoyed playing cards and Bridge. She also enjoyed her annual trips to Georgia.

Jeannette is survived by her children, Steve (Sue) Peterson, Darwin Peterson, Wayne Peterson, Sherri (Tom) Vogt, and Todd (Tricia) Peterson; grandchildren, Heather, Stacy, Mark, Justin, Hector, Patrick, Joshua, Zachary, Cassie, Tyler, Luke, and Ellie; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Margie; brother, Jerry (Sandra); sisters-in-law, Marlene and Marlys; brother-in-law, Paul.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Maggie Lokey; her husband, Donald Peterson; five brothers and three sisters.

A funeral service for Jeanette will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. The visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Red Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery, rural Austin. Memorials are preferred to the family.
