Barbara Wesely, 93, North Mankato, obituary

Barbara Jean Wesely, age 93, of North Mankato, formerly of Owatonna, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 23, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

She was born in Owatonna on July 9, 1932, to Clarence and Jeanette (Kahnke) Kading. She graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1950.

Barbara was united in marriage to Richard Wesely in 1954 at St. Columbanus Church in Blooming Prairie. Together they had five children: Daniel, Gregory, Douglas, Robert, and Susan.

Barbara lived her life with a deep faith in God and a constant love of family and home. She was a loving, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Barbara’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She enjoyed showing her love through baking and sharing with others. Nana was loved and cherished by her grandchildren and will be remembered for her gentle heart and selfless spirit. She was known as the ultimate hostess and had a special gift for connecting with people. Singing and reading were also important to her.

She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and participated in the church choir. We, her family, are forever shaped by her love, kindness, and patience.

She is survived by her five children: Daniel (Deb Richards) Wesely, Gregory (Anne) Wesely, Douglas (Melanie) Wesely, Robert (Janice Baune) Wesely, and Susan (Jim) Levandowski; nine grandchildren: Nathan Wesely, David Wesely, Katherine Wesely, Brianna (Logan) Lantz, Ryan (Brittany) Wesely, Michael Wesely, Christopher (Kalie) Levandowski, Benjamin Levandowski, and Andrew (Merci Arbach) Levandowski; and great-grandchildren, Ellie Bemis and Brooklyn Lantz; sister-in-law: Romana Wesely, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Mary and Dave Kruger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard, grandson, Matthew Wesely; sister, Patricia (Chip) Decker, and many other special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
