Berniece Schroht, 86, Owatonna
Berniece M. Schroht, of Owatonna, passed away on Feb. 18, 2026.
Friends may greet the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna, and for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church,1301 Lincoln Ave. SE, Owatonna, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
Berniece Schroht was born on Oct. 19, 1939, in Owatonna to August and Marie (Schuldt) Reiter. She married Jerry Schroht on September 22, 1956, in Faribault.
Berniece was a farm wife who raised her four children: Randy, Jon, Kari, and Bradley. She did far more than raise her children—she kept herself busy raising chickens and ducks, gardening, milking, and helping with whatever chores needed to be done around the farm. For the last 30 years, Berniece and Jerry wintered in Florida.
Berniece was very active in her community. She served as a Sunday school teacher and council member at St. John Lutheran Church. She was also a 4-H leader and officer on the Leaders’ Council, chair of the Steele County American Dairy Association, a board member of the Steele County Historical Society, and a member of Sons of Norway. Berniece, along with her late husband Jerry, enjoyed collecting farm toys, model trains, and antique farm tractors.
Berniece is survived by her four children: Randy (Audrey) Schroht of Owatonna, Jon Schroht of Indialantic, Fla., Kari Reuvers of Spicer, MN and Bradley (Sue) Schroht of Owatonna; 11 grandchildren: Aaron (Beth), David (Emily), Colleen (Kelly), Thomas Schroht, Ryan (Casey) Schroht, Brittney Schroht, Shannon Schroht, Josh (Ashley) Reuvers, Brandon Reuvers, Kullen Schroht, and Danielle (Lance) Smith; 12 great-grandchildren: Derek, Avyana, Adeline, Dylan, Weston, August, Geno, Macey, Hattie, Berklee, Marlowe, and Anna, with one more on the way; and her sister, Joanie (Chuck) Mosher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents; her sisters, Jeanette Pirkl, Jean Lambert, and Elizabeth Becker; and her brother, Norman Reiter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church, Owatonna, or the Steele County Historical Society.
