Betty Jean Anderson, 87, of Blooming Prairie, died peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026, at her home that she loved so dearly.

Betty was born March 8, 1939, in Owatonna, the daughter of Hubert and Adeline (Boettcher) Jiroushek. She was a 1957 graduate of Ellendale High School.

Betty was united in marriage to Duwayne C. Anderson on July 5, 1959, at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale.

Through the years, Betty was employed as a secretary at Ellendale High School, a teller at First National Bank, Owatonna Tool Company, Bixby Inn, and over 20 years at Jerry’s Other Place in Austin.

Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna. She enjoyed flowers, sewing, and baking, especially bars and muffins. Betty was also a very avid Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed playing cards with close friends.

Betty is survived by her son, Craig Anderson of Blooming Prairie and his girlfriend, Krisann Nelson of Kenyon; sister, Janice (Dale) Waage of rural Ellendale; three nephews, Brian, Lee and Bruce Waage; two great nieces, Jessica and Allison Waage; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Max and Marlene Jensen of Albert Lea (sons, David Peterson, Mike Peterson, and Jeff Jensen) and Tony Anderson of Albert Lea (sons, Brad and Eric Anderson); also other family and best friend, Mary Lou Deml of Owatonna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duwayne in 1993.

Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. on, Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery in Ellendale.
