A regular school board meeting of the School Board of Independent School District #756, 
Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, was held in the High School Media Center at 5:15 p.m. 
(Open Forum at 5:00 p.m.).
 
OPEN FORUM – A demonstration was given by the Robotics Team.

ALSO PRESENT: Superintendent of Schools; Elementary Principal; 
High School Principal; Associate Principal; Members of the BPTA; Member of the Press; Student Representatives
 
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
 
IV. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
 
Motion by Rodney Krell and seconded by Michelle Vigeland to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried.  (7 Aye/0 Nay)
 
V. PRINCIPAL REPORTS
 
Reports given by Mr. Staloch, Mr. Worke, and Ms. Mach.   
 
VI. ITEMS ON WHICH BOARD ACTION IS REQUESTED
 
A. Minutes, Bills, and Treasurer’s Report Motion by Jenny Thurnau and seconded by Jon Sunde to approve the minutes, bills, and treasurer’s report.  Motion carried.  (7 Aye/0 Nay)
 
B.Designation of Local Depositories, Newspaper, and School Attorney
Motion by Michelle Vigeland and seconded by Jenny Thurnau to designate financial institutions as depositories for school funds and investments through January 2017.  Motion carried.  (7 Aye/0 Nay)
 
Motion by Pam Hameister and seconded by Jon Sunde to approve authorization of specific staff to perform electronic or paper transactions for the district.  These authorizations are through January 2017.  Motion carried.  (7 Aye/0 Nay)
 
Motion by Michelle Vigeland and seconded by Kelly Braaten to approve the Steele County Times as the official school newspaper through January 2017.  Motion carried.  (7 Aye/
0 Nay)
 
Motion by Jenny Thurnau and seconded by Jon Sunde to approve Hoversten, Johnson, Beckmann & Hovey, PLLP, Austin, MN, as the district’s designated school attorney through January 2017.  Motion carried.  (7 Aye/0 Nay)
 
C.  Promulgation of Seniority Lists for the Teaching Staff
Motion by Jenny Thurnau and seconded by Pam Hameister to approve the promulgation of the seniority lists for the teaching staff.  Motion carried.  (7 Aye/0 Nay)
 
D. MSHSL Foundation Resolution (Form B/C) Motion by Pam Hameister and seconded by Jenny Thurnau to approve the MSHSL Form B/C which helps provide additional professional development and training for our coaching staff.  Motion carried.  (7 Aye/0 Nay)
 
E. Robotics Activity Fee
Motion by Kelly Braaten and seconded by Jon Sunde to approve a $50 activity fee for those students participating in robotics.  Motion carried.  (7 Aye/0 Nay)
 
VII. ITEMS OF INFORMATION AND/OR DISCUSSION ONLY
 
A. Technology
Discussion of future technology plans which will be presented at the February meeting.
 
B. Committee Reports
A report update was given by the following committees:  Education Foundation, Staff Development, Technology, and ZED.
 
C. Enrollment Data
Enrollment for the 2015-16 school year as of January 13, 2016, was 408 at the elementary school and 299 at the high school (293 attending BPHS and 6 attending PSEO).  The PSEO number consisted of 2 seniors and 4 juniors which will all attend full-time.
 
D. Dates to Note.     
The Board noted dates of importance.  
 
VIII. SUPERINTENDENT OR BOARD MEMBER ITEMS
 
Superintendent Olson gave an update of information received at the recent MSBA Conference that he attended.
 
IX. ADJOURNMENT
 
Motion by Jon Sunde and seconded by Jenny Thurnau to adjourn the meeting at 6:03 p.m.  Motion carried.  (7 Aye/0 Nay)
 
Tentatively, the next Regular School Board Work Session will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at 6:00 a.m. in the Board Room at the High School.  Tentatively, the next regular meeting of the School Board will be Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at 5:15 p.m. in the High School Media Center (Open Forum begins at 5:00 p.m.).
 
A complete copy of the official minutes may be found in their entirety in the official minute book located in the superintendent’s office at the high school; however, they will not be available until approved by the School Board.
