BREAKING NEWS: FIRE DAMAGES CONSTRUCTION BUILDING IN BLOOMING PRAIRIE

Authorities are still investigating the cause of a Friday night fire near the Blooming Prairie Dairy Queen.

The Cedar Crest Construction company located just east of the Dairy Queen went up in smoke.

Three area fire departments battled the blaze: Blooming Prairie, Hayfield and Ellendale. The Blooming Prairie Police Department and Steele County Sheriff’s Office also responded.

The 40 by 100-foot Cedar Crest building is owned by Allen Nolt Construction Co. The company builds farm buildings and pole buildings. The Nolt building was once owned by Heavy Metal.

The fire was first reported at about 7 p.m. Motorists reported seeing the fire as far from the south in Austin.
