BREAKING NEWS: Lois Riess ordered to remain held without bond

The Blooming Prairie area grandmother who is accused of going on a 2-state killing spree will remain in a Florida jail without bond.
On Thursday, a Florida judge accepted a stipulation from Lois Riess’ defense counsel to waive her appearance and right to a pretrial detention hearing. The stipulation also called for Riess to remain in custody. 
Thursday’s hearing centered on a motion for pretrial detention filed by the Office of the State Attorney for the 20th Judicial Circuit in Florida. The State Attorney’s Office was seeking to have the court hold Riess without bond pending her trial. 
A hearing on the motion is an evidentiary hearing where the request for a no bond hold is based on several elements including the crime being a dangerous crime as defined by statute and facts indicating a disregard for the safety of the community.
Riess’ next court appearance is set for May 29.
