BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Two people lucky to be alive after storm scare outside Geneva

Two people received non-life threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon after becoming trapped inside a trailer on a turkey farm in northern Freeborn County. 
Cindy Schultz and her mother were taken by ambulance to Mayo Hospital in Albert Lea once they were rescued from the twisted wreckage at 31627 820thAve. near Ellendale. It took rescuers about 15 minutes to free them from the trailer.
“They are just extremely lucky,” Sgt. Keith Bolinger of the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office said at the scene.
Nearly 8,000 baby turkeys perished when the barn they were in was leveled on the farm, which is owned by Larry Schultz of Owatonna. Only a handful of turkeys survived.
Schultz’s 13-year-old son, Rod, was also in the trailer but escaped unharmed.
Power lines remain down in an area north of Geneva Lake. The Freeborn County Sheriff is advising people to stay away from the area, and barricades have been placed around the area to keep people away. 
It’s unknown if the storm was straight-line winds or a small tornado. The damage appeared to be confined to a several mile radius in the area.
