Charles Mosher, 85, Owatonna
Charles “Chuck” Mosher, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Charles Ludvig Mosher was born on Palm Sunday, April 6, 1941, in Faribault, to Lee and Laura (Hammer) Mosher. He was baptized by his grandfather, the Rev. Ludvig Hammer at First English Lutheran Church in Faribault and confirmed on May 1, 1955.
After graduating from Faribault High School in 1959, and because of his strong interest in cars, he began his working life as an automobile mechanic in Faribault. In 1962, he went to work for Northfield Foundry & Machine Co. in machine assembly.
In 1964, he married Joanie Reiter, and they lived in Faribault for a year before moving to Owatonna in 1965 when he accepted a position at the Owatonna Tool Company. Chuck was a man of many talents and worked in many areas of the company and in 1971, he began working on new product development.
He currently holds several patents for several tools for the company. Working at OTC afforded him the opportunity to travel extensively in the United States., Canada as well as abroad in England, Germany and Italy. He retired from OTC in January of 2000 after 35 years. He always had a passion for automobiles - he repaired, raced and restored them. He and his friend Harvey West built a Myers Manx car and raced it in Brainerd and other tracks for a few years. He enjoyed showing a 1962 Corvette and cruising with the 2001 Corvette.
His interest in woodworking began in ninth grade in high school. He enjoyed working with wood and was proud of the many pieces of furniture he designed and crafted. He had a woodworking shop in the last two houses and made a lot of the furniture which included kitchen cupboards, bedroom dressers, etc. He also found time for golf and archery. He instilled in his sons to think logically and once you start on a project do it once and do it right the first time.
Chuck was a life member of the Elks Club, as well as Sports Car Club of America, Street Rod Association, Corvette Restoration Society of America and the Hiawatha land Corvette Club. Chuck is survived by (his wife, Joanie; two sons, Corey (Holly) Mosher of Corcoran and Casey (Sarah) Mosher of Northfield; five grandchildren, Charlie, Carlie, Allison, Riley and Connor. He is also survived by two brothers, Gene of Owatonna and Gary (Diane) of Bettendorf, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Laura Mosher and two brothers, Harvey and Henry Mosher.
Friends may greet the family on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Michaelson Funeral Home from 4-6 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Steele County Historical Society, St. John Cemetery or the donor's choice.
