Colleen Borchert, 91, Owatonna
Colleen Borchert died Nov. 4, 2023, at Mill City in Faribault.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Owatonna. Friends may greet the family Monday, Nov. 13, at Brick-Meger Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m., with a Parish Rosary beginning at 3:45 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the church beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Colleen Marlys Borchert was born in Steele Center, Somerset Township on Feb. 6, 1932, to William and Genevieve (Hart) Staska. She lived in Steele Center and attended School District 49 and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1949. She worked at the Uber Glove Factory.
She married Ludwig Borchert on June 13, 1951, at Sacred Heart Church, Owatonna. She lived and worked on their farm in Ellendale and raised six children. She and Ludwig retired and moved to Owatonna in 1986.
Colleen was a member of St. Mary’s Guild, a 4-H leader, member of Catholic Aid Association (CUF) and was assistant supervisor of the Grains and Grasses Dept. at the Steele County Fair for eight years.
She enjoyed painting, making crafts, reading, playing cards, doing word-find and jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed going to all the sports and programs of her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling with Ludwig; they had adventures to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and went on many boat cruises.
She is survived by her children Patricia King (husband Rick Rabeneck) of Kilkenny; Rick Borchert (friend, Valerie Silver) of Brentwood, Tenn.; Karen Duncan (husband Frank) of Sharon, S.C.; Randy Borchert (wife Lisa) of Ellendale; Todd Borchert (wife Vickie) of San Diego; 10 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; five step grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren; brothers Berlyn Staska of Owatonna; Ronald Staska (Claudette) of Rockwell, Texas and sister Sandra Winzenburg (George) of Blooming Prairie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ludwig; daughter Gail Rysavy; great- granddaughter Juniper Holle; brother Norman Staska; and sister Janet Frederick. For more information or to leave a message of condolence, go to www.megercares.com.
