Curtis “Curt” Jensen, 86, Owatonna, obituary

Curtis Gene Jensen, age 86, of Owatonna, passed away at Medford Senior Care in Medford, on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at Radiant Church, 1650 7th Ave. NE, Owatonna. Visitation will also be at Radiant Church two hours prior to the funeral, beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding at the time of service. Military Honors will be provided by the Steele County Funeral Unit.

Curtis was born on Feb. 26, 1939, in Concord Township, Dodge County, to Harold and Julia (Wincell) Jensen.

He earned his GED (high school graduate equivalency) and was drafted by the Army. He proudly served his country from January 1962 until January 1968.

Curtis married Virginia Wencl and was blessed with two children; Catherine and Jacqueline. They were later divorced.

He married Bernadette (Bernie) Randall in 1978 and became a loving father to two more daughters.

Curtis held numerous jobs throughout his working years but the one he loved the most was farming. He never actually bought a farm but worked for a few farmers planting, plowing, and harvesting. He spent many years working for Fineran Plumbing and when Gene Fineran retired, he finished his working years as a gasman at the Owatonna Public Utilities.

Curtis is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bernie; daughters, Catherine (Max) Schauweker of Owatonna and Jacqueline (Tony) Clancy of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Kathryn (Greg) Jackson of Tucson, Ariz., and Tamra (Ron) Gonzalez of Owatonna; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Laverne Jensen, Robert (Judy) Jensen, Barb Lowell, David (Kathy) Jensen, Linda Escobedo, and Rick Jensen, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Marvin (Janet) Jensen; sisters Carole Correy, and Helen Jacobson; and brother-in-law Jose Escobedo.
