Dale Steven Seykora, son of Jerome and Delores (Pechacek) Seykora, was born March 14, 1955, in Owatonna. Dale grew up on the family farm in Somerset Township. He attended St. Isidore’s Catholic School and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1973.
After high school, he worked alongside his father in the farming/milking operation. He also worked for Roy T Mosier Construction, Stockwell Construction and Melby Masonry, taking pride in his craftsmanship as he often pointed out houses and buildings that displayed his concrete work. He took time to help friends and neighbors with concrete projects when he was available. Farming remained his lifelong vocation, with his fields being admired by area farmers. In most recent years, he farmed alongside his son and grandson, passing on the family tradition.
Dale met the love of his life in Hope, and on June 5, 1976, was united in marriage to Patrice Ann Stenzel at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Litomysl.
Dale took over the farm in 1977, making him the fifth generation to run the family farm, and there they raised their four children.
Dale was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a longtime member of the Steele County Dairy Herd Improvement Association and was widely respected and commended for maintaining one of the top-producing dairy herds in the county for many years. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing slow pitch softball and broomball-including winning a state championship. Dale took pride in watching his kids and grandkids’ sporting events and celebrating their accomplishments. He was passionate about winning in 4-H softball and was recognized as one of the best and entertaining coaches by his children and local 4-H’ers. He found joy in taking daily rides around his farm on his Gator to check on the fields or sit and watch purple Martin Songbirds make homes in the birdhouses he built. Dale was a pro wrestling fan, enjoyed watching sports, playing cards with family and catching up with several longtime friends. His contagious laugh was recognized anywhere.
Dale is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patrice, his children Brian (Mary Beth) Seykora with their children Matt and Mitch; Scott (Theresa) Seykora with their child Beckett; Clint (Jennifer) Seykora with their children Gavin, Jorrie, Remi and Grady; all of Owatonna, and Melissa (Archie III) Bell with their children Archie IV, Emmalee and Kora, of Boone, Iowa. He is further survived by his mother, Delores Seykora; siblings Allen (Jayne) Seykora of WI, Tony (Rel) Seykora, Dean (Cathy) Seykora, and Jane (Tom) Kubista all of Owatonna, Lori (Mitch) Okerstrom of Fergus Falls, and Amy (Tim) VanPutten of CO.
Dale was preceded in death by his father Jerome, brother Mark, mother-in-law Beverly Miller and father-in-law LaVerne Miller. For more information or to leave an online condolence message, go to www.megercares.com.
