Darlene Abbe, 82, Owatonna, obituary

Darlene “Dolly” Frances Abbe, 82, of Owatonna, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, surrounded by family.

Memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Owatonna. Friends may greet the family from 1-2:30 p.m. before the memorial service at church.

Dolly was the last of eight children born to parents John and Lillian (Cruikshank) Walker on Nov. 6, 1941. She was raised on a family farm in Merton Township. Dolly graduated from Owatonna High School in 1959.

In 1963, she married Ronald Abbe at the Methodist Church in Owatonna. The two made their home southeast of Owatonna on a small hobby farm, where they raised their five children.

Dolly loved serving and caring for others as the owner of the Kozy Korner restaurant. She also worked at Kid’s Korner, Cedar View Nursing Home, and volunteered at Owatonna Hospice House.

Dolly enjoyed playing cards and games, and spending time with friends, neighbors, and her greatest joy, her family. Dolly’s family tradition of making homemade bread, chicken and noodles, and fritters, will be missed, but carried on.

Dolly is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ron; children: Jim (Lori) Abbe, Owatonna, Rhonda (Doug Wencl) Spatenka, Owatonna, John (Paula) Abbe, Blooming Prairie, Annette (Dave) Spatenka, Owatonna, Therese (Tim) Wagaman, Owatonna; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Noreen (John) Story; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, and one great-grandson.
