Diane Drache, 79, Owatonna

Diane Marie Drache, 79, of Owatonna, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Traditions of Owatonna.

She was born in Waseca on Oct. 13, 1943 to Glen and Helen (Steinbauer) Broughton. She attended school in Waseca and graduated from Waseca High School in 1961.

She married James Drache on Oct. 28, 1961 at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. They had two children: Jamie and Betty.

Diane worked at the Piggly Wiggly, Nic 'N Bah, Northfield Lumber, and Cash Wise where she retired as the head bookkeeper. She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, snowmobiling, going to garage sales, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren. Her favorite destination to travel over the years was Florida. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, American Legion, VFW, and Owatonna Rotary.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Drache, two sisters: Joan and Barb, and parents.

She is survived by son, Jamie Drache; daughter, Betty (Terry) Van Engelenburg; three grandsons: Hunter, Trapper and Tanner Van Engelenburg; one granddaughter Dani (Tony) Shinabarger; five great-grandsons: Gulyan, Alicio, Cade, Adrian and Tyson; brother, Gary Drache, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday June 21, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter presiding. Friends may greet the family from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Brick-Meger Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at church.
