Donna Jean Budig, 78, Owatonna

Donna Jean Budig, 78, of Owatonna, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  
Donna was born April 29, 1937, in Leaf River Township, Wadena County, Minnesota, the daughter of Albert and Lorraine (Kautz) Stuewer.  She was a 1955 graduate of Wadena High School.  Donna married Herbert Budig on June 7, 1956, in Wadena, Minnesota.  They resided in Wadena, Minnesota, Marshall, Minnesota, and moved to Owatonna in 1964.  Donna worked at the Savings and Loan in Wadena, the State School in Owatonna, as a receptionist for Dr. Burnett Dentistry, Little Professor Book Store in Owatonna, along with other various businesses.
Donna adored her grandchildren and loved hosting family get-togethers. She had a passion for bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs. She was a very talented seamstress and quilter. Her quilting earned her many ribbons at the Steele County Free Fair. Donna also enjoyed reading, flower gardening, home decorating and traveling.  She was very community-focused and followed high school sports throughout Minnesota. Donna was a member of the Elks.  
She is survived by her three children, Kevin (Kathy) Budig of Northfield, Susan Budig (Tom Reimler) of St. Louis Park, and Michelle Budig (Peter Landstrom) of Amherst, MA; son-in-law, Daniel Hartle of Overland Park, Kansas; 10 grandchildren, Nathanial Budig, Nikolaus Budig, Samuel Hartle, Heidi Hartle, Jennifer Ankeny, Sarah Budig, Karen Budig, Joseph Reimler, Carl Reimler, and Louise Landstrom; one great grandson, Zachary Ingersoll-Day; brother, Darold (Barb) Stuewer of Elbow Lake; sister, Peggy (John) Kuchenbecker of Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Ruth (Dennis) Boehland of Buffalo; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Budig; and daughter, Jacqueline Budig-Hartle.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna, with The Reverend Sandy Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice House or Planned Parenthood.
