Doris M. Vail, 93, formerly of Kasson

A Celebration of Life and inurnment for Doris M. Vail will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Kasson.  
Doris M. Vail, 93 of Mesa, Ariz., died Monday, January 29, 2018, following a brief illness and complications from the influenza virus.  
Doris May Markham was born on July 31, 1924 in Dovray, Minn., to Earl and Hertha (Hattie) Markham. She attended Kasson High School, graduating in 1942. She attended business college in Minneapolis and worked for Northwest Airlines. Later she worked as a bookkeeper for Culligan Waters of Kasson and was an income tax preparer for Herald Tax Service in Rochester.
Doris married Robert F. “Bucky” Vail on Dec. 31, 1946, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson, where she was a 79+ year member having been confirmed there on June 19, 1938. They lived in rural Kasson until 1952 when they moved to Kasson where she resided until 2000. She then made her home in Mesa.  
She is survived by three children, Bruce Vail of Phoenix, Mary (Dave) Neuman of Gilbert, Ariz., and Mark (Lisa) Vail of Lincoln, Neb.; granddaughters Tatum (John) Cain of Newport Beach, Calif., Tiffany Vail of Chicago, Ill., Jenny (Brian) Bramhall of Clearwater, Minn., Lindsay (Erik) O’Herron of Queen Creek, Ariz., Brooke (Chris) Fisher of Gilbert, Ariz., Sarah (Dustin) Antonello of Omaha, Neb. and Morgan (JJ Friend) Vail of Denver, Colo.; five great-grandchildren , sisters-in-law Marjorie Markham of Arcadia, Calif., and Marjorie Peters of Bradenton, Fla., as well as many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 50-years (1997), her parents and brother Arden Markham.
