Dorothy Gross, 94, Owatonna
Dorothy Agnes Gross, age 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2025, at Timberdale Trace Memory Care in Owatonna.
Friends may greet the family Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna. A Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 S. Elm Ave., Owatonna, with visitation from 9:30 until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery at Litomysl.
Dorothy was born on July 20, 1930, at Owatonna Hospital to Walter and Agnes (Skalicky) Kubista. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1948. After high school, she began working at 1st National Bank and continued until 1976.
On June 30, 1954, she married the love of her life, Linden Gross, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Litomysl. They built a house and raised three children together. Dorothy enjoyed her family - her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy and Linden enjoyed many fun hours together with their friends square dancing, playing card games, fishing and camping. As they got older, they made many great memories with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren during the holidays, on fishing trips, during birthdays, and for many other occasions.
In addition to spending time with her family, Dorothy also enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, quilting, bird watching, and being around flowers. She spent many hours taking care of her beloved cats. Dorothy volunteered many hours at church, was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and served as treasurer and president for both the Ambitious Homemakers group and Extension Club over the years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Linden Gross. They shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents Walter and Agnes (Skalicky) Kubista of Someset Township; brothers Jerome (Annette) Kubista, and Bernard (Fran) Kubista; sister Judith (Theodore) Staley; sisters-in-law Celia Marini, LaVonne Gross, Evelyn (Lowell) Trom, and Ermadell (Theodore) Knutson; brothers-in-law Alvin (Dorothy) Gross, and James Whitcomb; and granddaughter Crystal Pete.
Dorothy is survived by daughter Gail (Robert) Pete of Onamia, Minn., sons Dale (Debbie) Gross of Bradenton, Fla., and Kevin Gross of Byron; grandchildren: Benjamin Gross of Owatonna, Joseph (Katelyn) Pete of Cottage Grove, Robert (Megan) Pete of Champlin, Katie Born of Owatonna, Amber Pete of Onamia, Jeffrey (Alanda) Gross of Bradenton, Zachary Gross of Rochester, and JiaYin Gross of Rochester; great-grandchildren: Alan Rischmiller, Tristin Gross, Gabriella Needham, Elliott Pete, Aubrey Pete, Owen Pete, Evelyn Pete, Wyatt Voss, Jeremy Born, Andrew Gross, and Jackson Gross; sister-in-law Joanne (James) Whitcomb; brother-in-law Ronald Gross; and many loved nieces and nephews.
The family of Dorothy Gross would like to thank the wonderful staff of Timberdale Trace and St. Croix Hospice for all of the love and care they showed Dorothy during her time with them.
