Douglas John Bauman, 70, of Waseca, passed away in Owatonna on June 14, 2023.

Doug was born in Worthington on Aug. 16, 1952, to Eunice and Henry Bauman. He grew up on the family farm in Ewington Township in Jackson County. He graduated from Okabena High School and Southwest State University with a degree in biology.

In 1973, Doug married Debra Hogenson in Crystal. Together they had one child, Paul H. Bauman. Doug farmed in Nobles and Jackson counties. He enjoyed the challenge of farming and the satisfaction of watching crops mature to harvest. Doug liked working on cars with his brothers and son, woodworking, and traveling with Deb and Paul. His family and friends enjoyed his dry humor.

Doug was a member of several agriculture advocacy organizations including Farmer's Union and the Corn & Soybean Growers. He was an active member of the Minnesota DFL Party. Each summer, Doug and his wife enjoyed hosting a large picnic at their farm for local Democrats and elected officials.

Doug is survived by his wife, Debra and son Paul, his sisters Cathy Stoutenburgh, Carolyn Kirchner (Larry), Jeanne Gibson (Randy), and Martha Kosovich (Todd), and his brothers Leonard “Lee” (Kathy), Bryce (Michelle), and Lloyd (Carolyn). He has many nieces and nephews and some grand nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Eunice Bauman, his brother-in-law Joseph Stoutenburgh, and his nephew Jason Kirchner.

Memorial services will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Mankato on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 11 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made in Doug’s name to the Owatonna Homestead Hospice Patient Care Fund.
