Douglas Ingvalson, 72, formerly of Blooming Prairie, obituary

Douglas Stewart Ingvalson, age 72, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Doug was born Dec. 29, 1950, the third child of Muriel and Lawrence Ingvalson, and grew up on the family farm near Waltham. He and his family were members of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, where he was baptized and confirmed.

He attended Blooming Prairie High School, played trumpet in the marching band with his brother Lee and friends, and golfed on the first Blooming Prairie High School Golf Team with his cousin Steve. Golfing with family, friends and coworkers became a lifelong sport for Doug.

After graduating from high school in 1968, he attended St. Olaf College for two years. Following surgery and treatment for brain cancer he continued his education at the U of M, graduating in 1972 with a B.A. in History.

After college he began building a business career, eventually working as manager of the credit division for Mammoth Inc. in Chaska.

In 1977, he married Deborah Jezierski and together they raised five children. Life with family and friends, living on Lake Minnetonka, boating and water sports during the summer and ice skating in the winter brought him much joy. He was active in his church, Parker’s Lake Baptist Church, in Bible studies, youth and family activities, church council, and the Gideon Bible Society.

After Doug retired, he and Deborah enjoyed traveling and vacationing in Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Muriel and Lawrence Ingvalson, grandparents, Clara and Emil Ingvalson and Mamie and Clarence Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah, and five children, Erin (Scott) Major, Ryan (Edith) Ingvalson, Aili (Kurt III) Otto, Grant (Kelly) Ingvalson, Samuel (Stephanie) Ingvalson; 27 grandchildren; two siblings, Lana (Eric) Gilster, Lee (Bonnie) Ingvalson; three aunts, Connie Benson, Bette Ladd, Jean (Dick) Vanberg; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service was held April 14, 2023, at Parker’s Lake Baptist Church.
