Edward Lindquist, 92, formerly of Blooming Prairie

Edward Leroy Lindquist, 92, of Waterville, formerly of Blooming Prairie, passed away on Oct. 8, 2015, overlooking his beloved lake with his wife, Ginny by his side.
Edward was born on Sept. 19, 1923, in Ripley Township, to two Sweden immigrants, Oscar and Anna (Johannson-Hillstrom) Lindquist. Edward attended country school in Ripley Township and later graduated from Blooming Prairie High School. After high school he moved to California to attend aviation school and worked as an inspector for warplanes. 
On Jan. 1, 1943, Edward joined the Army Air Force. He was stationed in England during World War II with the 490th bomb group. He was a radio operator and flew in 33 missions during his time stationed overseas.
Edward returned to Blooming Prairie after the war and married Virginia Motle on March 30, 1947. The couple briefly moved to Minneapolis while Edward attended Minnesota School of Business. He went on to work at Hormel and then for his father-in-law’s construction company, Motle Construction. He later changed the name to E.L. Lindquist and Sons and was joined by his twin sons, Larry and Lee.
Edward was active in the Shriners and VFW he was a past Commander of the VFW and also a past Master of the Lodge for the Masons. He enjoyed woodworking, making furniture for all of his grandchildren, bird watching and traveling across the United States to attend military reunions with his squadron.
Edward is survived by his wife of 68 years, Virginia “Ginny” Lindquist of Waterville; daughter Sandy Kae (Tim) Bass of Blooming Prairie; twin sons Larry (Annette) Lindquist of Blooming Prairie and Lee (Sandi) Lindquist of Austin; and sisters-in-law Linda Augustin of Washington Court House, Ohio, and Barbara Garber of Carson City, Nevada. Nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren also survive him.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Marsha “Penny” Pacolt, parents Oscar and Anna, in-laws William and Viola Motle and brothers Robert and Carl.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at the Waterville United Methodist Church from 10 to 11 a.m. A funeral service followed. There was a graveside service at 3 p.m. at the Blooming Prairie Cemetery with full military honors. Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services of Waterville is handling arrangements.
