Evelyn M. Balzer, 95, of Blooming Prairie

Evelyn M. Balzer, 95, of Blooming Prairie, died July 31, 2015, at the Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Blooming Prairie.
She was born June 24, 1920, in Steele County the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Jirele) Wurst.
Evelyn attended country school and Blooming Prairie School. She then worked a few years for Jostens before marrying Joseph Balzer Nov. 20, 1945, at Associated Church in Owatonna. The couple farmed together for many years near Bixby. Joseph died July 25, 2005. Joe and Evelyn enjoyed going on fishing trips together, and she belonged to the Bixby Westside Club.
She is survived by her sisters Adeline Frey of Owatonna, Berniece (Jerry Loew) Loew of Blooming Prairie; brother Joseph (Shirley) Wurst of Blooming Prairie; sister-in-law Loretta Wurst of Blooming Prairie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph; three brothers Fred, Edmund and Wilfred; and two sisters Albina Stebbins and Helen Nelson.
Visitation was at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna, Monday Aug. 3, 2015. Funeral services were held Tuesday Aug. 4, 2015, with Pastor Jim Oberg officiating. Interment will be in the in Owatonna Memorial Gardens Cemetery.   Memorials are preferred to the Prairie Manor Nursing Home.
