Evelyn Moreland, 95, formerly of West Concord

Evelyn Delphine Moreland, 95, of Rochester, formerly of West Concord, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth where she had resided since March 2012.
Evelyn was born Feb. 25, 1920, in Claremont Township, the daughter of Guy and Hatti (Burk) Phelps. She was raised and attended school in Dodge County. Evelyn married Harold Graden Moreland on Nov. 25, 1944, in St. Paul. She worked at Libby’s and the Kahler Hotel in Rochester and at the Minnesota State School in Faribault. Harold died Dec. 15, 2010.
She enjoyed camping, spending winters in Texas, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Harold and Evelyn traveled throughout the United States and to Germany. Evelyn had a fantastic memory and could remember the name and/or number of the road or highway that she had traveled on without looking at a map. She loved to cook, bake and make candy. She always had a place at the table for anyone who stopped to visit.
Survivors include six children Pat (and Edwin) Stoltenberg of Denver, Richard Bennett of Dodge Center, Sharon (and Bruce) Norton of Rochester, Janice (and Keith) Applequist of Rochester, Diane (and Greg) Zelinske of O’Fallon, Illinois, Merlin (and Cheryl) Moreland of Dodge Center; son-in-law Ed Buchanan of Spring Valley; 27 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold; parents; son Robert Bennett; daughters Geraldine “Gerry” Buchanan and Mary Blaisdell; son-in-law Steven Blaisdell; three grandchildren Jenny Lecy, Robert Bryan Bennett, Robert Byron Bennett; and four brother and sisters-in-law Rueben (and Eva) Phelps, Harold (and Lillian) Phelps, Tim (and Josephine) Phelps and Raymond (and Ruth) Phelps and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Concord Church of Christ on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, from 1 to 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Concord Church of Christ with Pastor Peter Moen officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township. Arrangements by Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord.
