Francis Bungum, 95, Hayfield

Francis Arthur Oscar Bungum, 95 plus years, of Hayfield, passed away peacefully on Sept. 11, 2018 in the presence of family at the family home in which he was born in Dodge County.  
He was born Nov. 6, 1922, the son of Oscar and Anne (Mogen) Bungum in rural Hayfield on the farm where he spent his entire life. The farm was homesteaded in 1881, by his grandfather who immigrated from Nomedahl, Norway.  
He was baptized and confirmed at Evanger Lutheran Church of Sargeant where he remained an active member. He attended a country school. In 1943, he took over the family farm, the same year he was united in marriage to Marion Nereson of Byron to whom he was married for 75 years. Together they farmed and raised their family. 
Francis is survived by his wife, Marion, and his five children, Galen (Marcia) Bungum, Hayfield; Michelle Bungum, Rochester, Marcia Jane (Jerry) Hutchinson, Byron; Barry (Rita) Bungum, Brownsdale; Brian (Brigid) Bungum, Denver; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Anne Bungum, two sisters, Marion Alrick, Pearl Gulbransen and an infant grandson. 
The funeral service was held on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 at the church with Rev. Dwight Dobell officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery.
