Gary Kaplan, 62, St. Paul

Gary Gene Kaplan, of St. Paul, passed away on Jan. 1, 2023.

Gary was born May 1, 1960, to Roland and Lillian (Lamm) Kaplan in Owatonna. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1978 and went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota with a degree in business accounting.

For the past 30 years, Gary was a member of the Mutual Fund team at US Bancorp Investments where he made countless friends. He had a thirst for knowledge and consistently sought opportunities to expand his education with courses through universities, and by obtaining professional licenses through FINRA. He was always looking for the next thing to research, and loved discussing a broad range of topics, including his love of the Minnesota Twins and politics.

Gary's deep faith was very important to him; he was a long-time member and supporter of First Baptist Church in Owatonna. Gary actively participated in employee engagement events and was known for coordinating "Bowtie and Chinese Food Thursday" where he encouraged everyone to wear bowties to work and order Chinese food for lunch. He walked in the office every day with a smile on his face and greetings to all of his colleagues. He will be remembered for his cheery disposition and genuine good nature.

Gary was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by many cousins and an aunt.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna at 11a.m. with a visitation on hour prior to the service. Pastor Doug Jones will be officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
