Gary “Swede” Ronald Peterson, 77, West Concord

The funeral service for Gary “Swede” Ronald Peterson was held Dec. 4, 2015, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center.
Swede, 77, of West Concord, died on Nov. 30, 2015, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.
Swede was born on Jan. 17, 1938, in Dovray Township, Murray County, to Carl and Marguerite (nee Sollinger) Peterson.  He graduated from West Brooke High School.  
On Dec. 27, 1955, he entered the U.S. Navy, and served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on Dec. 26, 1961.  Swede returned home and began driving truck.  
On March 18, 1972, he married Donna Hanenberger in Byron.  They lived in Skyberg for a few years until they made their home in West Concord, where they have lived for the past 33 years.  
Swede worked for several companies including Cisor, IT, Midwest and Buesing.  He retired in 1999.  Swede loved watching sports, especially NASCAR.  He also liked fishing and playing cards with an occasional Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Swede is survived by his wife, Donna Peterson, Hayfield; sons, Ed Anderson, Kasson; Tom Anderson, Zumbro Falls; daughter, Pennie (Pete) Moe, Skyberg; grandchildren, Alex (Jenny), Madi, Max and Zach Anderson; Christie Anderson, Carrie (Jarvis) Groth and Cassie Anderson; Sarah, Grace and Adam Moe; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Tom (Patty) White, West Brooke, Minnesota.  Swede was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Bierman; and step-father, Clarence White.
