Genevieve Keller, 88, Owatonna
Genevieve M. Keller (Gen/Jean) was born Sept. 22, 1934, in Morristown, to Frank and (Mary Ann Simek) Wesely.
At the age of one she moved to Owatonna. Genevieve graduated from Owatonna High School in 1952. She was proud that she was the head majorette her year of graduation.
Genevieve married Kenneth Keller on Aug. 4, 1956. They lived together in Kentucky and Texas while Kenneth was in the service for the U.S. Army. When Kenneth was stationed in Germany, Genevieve returned to Owatonna and worked at Federated Insurance. She worked part time while her three daughters grew up. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in their many activities. There weren't too many events she missed. She was always very proud of each and every one of them.
The hobbies she enjoyed the most were her phonograph record collection, traveling to 46 states, reading, concerts, plays and especially socializing with her many friends and family.
Genevieve is survived by her three daughters, Kayleen (Mike) McGaheran, Owatonna; Jody (David) Hatzell, Sioux Falls, SD; Mary Lynn (Todd) Ulrich, Owatonna; her grandchildren: Dylan McGaheran, Kelsey McGaheran, Alex Hatzell, Mallory (Carson) Vitense, and Brady Radel; her soon-to-be new granddaughters through marriage, Holly Klecker and Margaret Jones; and former son-in-law, Bruce Radel. Genevieve is also survived by her brother Larry (Bev) Wesely, Perry lowa; sister Mary (Dave) Kruger; and many nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law.
Genevieve is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Keller, infant son Darin Keller, her parents Frank and Mary Wesely, her brothers: Jerome, Richard and Donald Wesely, and her sister Dorothy Schoenert.
Genevieve was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church as well as a member of Birthright, the Steele County Historical Society and MCCL (Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life).
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna with Rev. Peter Klein presiding. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
