Gerald Styve, age 76, of Brownsville, Texas, died on Friday, March 22, 2024, in Texas.

Gerald Phillip Styve was born on Feb. 29, 1948, to Peter and Hazel Styve in Decorah, Iowa.

He was baptized at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Decorah. He received his First Holy

Communion and Confirmation at St. Benedicts Catholic Church.

He attended St. Benedicts Catholic School through eighth grade. He graduated from Ossian DeSales Catholic School in 1966.

Gerald married Willie McCarthy on July 6, 1974 in California.

Gerald is survived by his son, Sam (Breyer) Styve; grandsons Mikel and Nicolai; siblings: Elaine (Jim) Sims, Decorah, Wyonne (Ron) Priebe,Owatonna, and Paul (Joni) Styve, Lansing, Iowa; nephews: Phil (Jeannie) Sims, Rochester, Mike (Kim) Sims, Decorah, Brad (Hilary Helgeson) Sorum, Owatonna, Corey (Beth) Sims, Decorah, Jason (Nora) Styve, Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Nicholas Priebe, Little Fork, Minn.

Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Styve; parents, Peter and Hazel Styve; brother, Ron Styve; sister-in-law, Evi Styve and nephew, Brett Styve and his special companion, his dog, Spook.

There will be a private family service at a later date.
