The Owatonna Dance Team took third place in its opening Class AAA competition at Burnsville High School earlier this month.

The Huskies scored 341 points out of a possible 500 for a 68.2% performance grade, placing the team behind Rogers’ 354 points.

Cheers and applause rang throughout the Blazers’ gym as the team made its season debut in front of a packed viewing section.

Owatonna’s team competed in the kick competition among the likes of Forest Lake, Burnsville, Rogers, and Lakeville North, who went on to win with 399 points.

The Huskies’ third-place finish was a welcome start to the 2023-24 season, and sets the team up for its next competition at Cannon Falls High School on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 12 p.m.

Cannon Falls will feature a much larger field of teams than Burnsville with 14 scheduled to compete.
